Wounds
Once the soldier's defences are penetrated he's regarded as wounded and the figure is discarded. Yet, if you want realism, you can use the table of wounds which will indicate the extent of the damage and if it's possible for the soldier to continue fighting.

Personally, I only use this table at the end of the battle to find the number of wounded and casualties.
